Tasting Notes:
We are excited to announce this is the first Nebbiolo featured by Cellar Angels! We could not have chosen a winery more in line with our values as Due Vigne donates regularly to their local children’s hospitals- even more reason to give back by purchasing some of this excellent wine. A gorgeous translucent ruby-garnet in color with the trademark Nebbiolo orange tinted rim, this wine has complex aromas and flavors. Dried red and black cherries, cranberry and blackberry give way to hearty herbs, floral notes and a pleasant earthiness. On the palate this wine is full bodied with flavors of dusty red fruit, spice, tobacco, black licorice and mocha notes. Moderately high tannin and acid levels make this a wine that is enjoyable on its own or with food. Take your time with this wine as it continues to evolve in the glass.

About the Winemaker:
Vineyard:

El Dorado AVA

The grapes from which this wine was produced were grown in the Musso Family Vineyard and are known for their longevity and complex aroma/ flavor profile. Musso Family Vineyard is located within the hills of El Dorado, California, an American Viticultural Area known for complex rugged topography and high elevation. Between 1,200-3,500 feet above sea level, the region is cooled by its high elevation rather than the fog which cools the lower elevations. Therefore the grapes are allowed a longer hang time on the vine under direct sunlight, resulting in more desirable acid/sugar balance and greater complexity for the grapes.

Food Pairing Suggestions:
Braised beef, game birds and hearty pastas all pair well with Nebbiolo as do sausage, Osso Buco or BBQ. Also try Nebbiolo with complex cheeses such as Parmigiano-Reggiano, Asiago, Taleggio, Gorgonzola or Fontina.
About the Winery
Due Vigne di Famiglia Winemaker Ken Musso spent thirty years as a firefighter before changing careers to become a professional winemaker. Like many other modern day winemakers, Ken has winemaking in his blood. His father and grandfather produced large quantities of wine in a basement in San Francisco. Interestingly, Ken discovered several bottles of his grandfather’s final wine, a 1937 Zinfandel, in the family basement which acted as the catalyst for him to pursue winemaking. Learn more
