Tasting Notes:

One of my (and many Cellar Angels customers) favorite producers, it is always an honor to contribute tasting notes for a Delgadillo Cellars wine.

Intensely deep red in color, the edges reveal its concentration. Immediately this wine greets you with fun and playful black and red licorice followed by black cherry and hints of oak, toffee and leather. The palate is more powerful revealing black currant, black cherry, cocoa powder and cedar along with earth and dried rose pedals. It finishes with a balanced level of tannin. I paired this with marinated skirt steak but believe this easy drinking Red is versatile enough to pair with a wide variety of meals and a Delgadillo to be enjoyed for quaffing while you save their premium tier Cabernet Sauvignon for a special occasion.

Food Pairing Suggestions:
The climate and soils in the Coombsville AVA produce wines that are favorable for food. Pair with duck, beef, pasta with meat sauce, lamb, hamburgers and mushroom dishes. Serve also with hard aged cheeses like aged gouda and Parmesan. And for dessert, experiment with any dark chocolate creation.
