Tasting Notes:

Deep, dark and sexy! This Library Selection Petite Sirah – with its splash of Syrah – is quite striking. A deep opaque garnet with a nearly black core, its rich viscosity grips at the sides of the wine glass, staining it slightly as the tears run slowly down. The enticing aromatics are immediate, with layers of crushed blackberry fruit and spicy dark red cherry complimented by notes of pepper, black licorice, violets and a nod to fresh forest floor. Lively and full-bodied, the wine shows a balance of acidity and a velvety tannic structure that envelopes the palate and provides a luxurious, long finish. With over 5 years of age between barrel and bottle, this wine will continue to evolve beautifully for another 5+ years. Decant for 30-45 minutes for thorough enjoyment!

Food Pairing Suggestions:
Petite Sirah is known for it big, bold style, so matching food must be equally as powerful. Choose foods with good fat (to stand up to the tannins) and big body, like a ribeye steak, a juicy cheeseburger or smoked pork shoulder. The spiciness of the wine can accent a leg of lamb, while the rich fruitiness can soften and compliment the perceived heat of Mexican cuisine. For cheese, choose dry and strong cheeses with high fat content. Enjoy!
