Clif Family Winery 2014 "Kit’s Killer Cab" Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
Clif Family Winery
Region: Napa Valley, CA
“This vintage of Kit’s is one of the best in recent years, making this Cab smooth, supple, and decadent.” -Clif Family
Clif Family refers to their Howell Mountain Cabernet as the King of the Mountain. As cyclists and adventure seekers, this title refers to the best climber in a road cycling race. From a winemaking perspective, the parallel is the best grapes for their winemaking program. And few could argue that Howell Mountain is the home to some of the best Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards in the Napa Valley.
A nearly opaque deep garnet with slight glints of dark purple shimmers in the glass. Aromatics are fresh and youthful, with welcoming dark cherry and blackberry fruit, dried herb notes and anise, rounded out with spiced vanilla, cinnamon and a hint of dark chocolate. Aromas follow through on the palate, offering lingering flavors after each sip. Tannins are smooth and silky, and the wine’s acidity lends a refreshing finish – perfect for the rich bruschetta pairings below. Or, to compliment the chocolate notes in the wine, give it a whirl with Clif Family’s Dark Chocolate Sea Salt.
