Beaver Creek Vineyards 2013 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
Beaver Creek Vineyards
Region: Lake County, CA

Mass produced wines are not only machine harvested but often times it is unclear what is used for fertilizer and weed management. Most of our winery partners hand-craft their wines, including careful vineyard management practices that are healthy for the vine, the earth and most importantly, the consumer. Our newest featured winery, Beaver Creek Vineyards, takes this practice to another level. With Organic and Biodynamic certifications in hand, Martin Pohl is a fanatic when it comes to making certain each bottle of wine is the most authentic version of Mother Nature, with as few outside forces as possible. For example, no sulfites are added and sheep are utilized to fertilize. He doesn't even tractor till the soil so as not to disrupt the vines. Watch the video and taste the wine to judge for yourself. Additionally, Martin does not produce a Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon each year. Similar to vintage Champagne, he only makes this wine in years producing extraordinary vintages.
On inspection, a glass of the Beaver Creek Vineyard 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is a beautiful garnet color. The aromas fill the glass with boysenberry, black cherry, mocha, thyme and violets. On the palate, enjoy plum, tart cherry, black currant, black tea and a hint of cocoa powder. This easy drinking medium-bodied wine likewise finishes with medium tannins.
