How is Chardonnay like Tofu?

My mother in law is, admittedly, not a big wine drinker.  She will enjoy the occasional glass, but usually only when we are together. When I first met her I was in my early 20’s and it would be several years before I would begin my career in wine, so at the time I knew less about wine (and almost everything else) than she did.

I want to show you one of the amazing vineyards where I source my grapes.  Lester Family Vineyards lies on the southern tip of the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA, tucked in behind the tiny town of Corralitos. I have been able to get incredible fruit (both Pinot Noir and Syrah) from here since 2012.

While getting my masters in writing a few years back, I landed a fortuitous job as a tasting room manager at an urban winery collective in San Francisco's historic Dogpatch neighborhood. (I say fortuitous because what graduate student wouldn’t seize the opportunity to make money and have the means to drink exceptionally good wine?)
